1972 First Video Games

Pong

The first ever video game was PONG.It changed the world and that is what I'll be talking about. In 1972

Atari Incorporated

released the first video game pong.It was a simple Ping Pong/Tennis game. How it worked was they had a remote that had two knobs to control where you were moving the two paddles from each side to return the ball. This remote connected to a TV.The bad thing about Pong is when you were done the dotted lines from the game would eventually stay there even without playing the game.

The two paddles return the ball back and forth. The numbers at the top of the screen is the score. So as you can see this game would be able to be played with a friend or by yourself.

And this is what the controller looked like.
So that little invention started video games. All those games we see today and play were invented because of Pong. For example the first ever Nintendo console came out in 1985. Then the Sony Playstation came out in 1995,followed by the first Xbox. After that more and more started to develop such as the DS in 2004,the Wii in 2006 then the updated versions started to come out, like Ps3......etc.

CREATOR

The guy who invented Pong was Nolan Bushnell. As it turned out it was not his original idea.Later on Magnavox Odyssey, the company who actually came up with the game, put a lawsuit against Atari for stealing their idea.Although Atari did get out of court by paying a lot of money,it cost Nolan his job.

So this is what Magnavox's game was going to look like before Atari released theirs.

How it was made

All it required was 2 batteries and it was made with plastic.

Conclusion

So that is why Pong was important in the video game industry. It started as I would call it, A chain, because it began an evolution of technology.
